After two years of its re-launch Bebo Blab shut down, as users werent returning to the platform to watch archived streams on replay.

When did Bebo close down?

2013 AOLs CEO called Bebo a true pioneer of the social web. But this was just as Facebook was taking off. After hinting at shutting down the site, AOL instead sold off Bebo to investment firm Criterion Capital Partners for just $10 million, and Bebo filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2013.

Who now owns Bebo?

Bebo went through a number of failed relaunch attempts in the 2010s, including as a messaging app and later as a streaming software company. It was finally acquired by Amazons Twitch streaming platform for $25million (£18million) in 2019.

Why was Bebo shut down?

A Bebo spokesperson told TechCrunch that the site was down due to a technical clusterfuck. Adam Levin, CEO of Bebo and Criterion Capital Partners, stated that they were trying to release some new features which caused the site to crash.

Why did they get rid of Bebo?

On April 7, 2010, AOL announced that it would either sell the website, or shut it down. This was mainly due to the falling numbers of unique users; Bebo users were moving to rival site Facebook.
