Can I use Wink without a subscription?

If you dont subscribe you will only have access to local control from the Wink app for switches, lights, and locks that are already connected directly to your hub. You will not be able to control your devices when you are not on your local WiFi network, use Alexa or Google Home or any API devices.

Is there a free Wink account?

The “limited functionality” that Wink is offering to free users is little more than a stopgap measure until they can migrate to a new smart home platform, such as Samsung SmartThings or Hubitat. Wink first launched five years ago, and its smart home platform won wide acclaim, including from us.

On January 25th, 2021, Wink suffered a wide spread outage. Remote control and cloud automation features were broken. Some users reported a complete and total outage including local control of their smarthubs, contrary to the companys public statements. The outage persisted for nine days.

Why is my wink Hub solid yellow?

Restart the Hub and Router Most usually, yellow light on the hub means that it is having problems connecting with your internet. This happens when the device gets bugged while setting up or turning on. Ensure that you let the router restart completely before you try and restart your hub as well.

Is the app Wink safe?

There are no safety features or parental controls available on the app. Wink has created guides for parents and teenagers. We recommend reading the parent guide and talking through the teen guide with your child.

Is a wink subscription worth it?

The Wink subscription is only worth it for current Wink customers that would like to keep their current setup. If youre new to home automation, chances are you can get these same features and more for less elsewhere.

Is wink charging a fee?

Is wink still good?

If your Wink HUB is offline, there are a few things you can do. First, check that you have an internet connection. If you do, and the Wink HUB is still offline, you may need to restart your router, and make sure that its between 5 to 15 feet away from your Wink HUB.
